Jumper Josh reaches new heights

Josh Newman reflected on his Maccabi GB National Athlete of the Year Award - a success caps a memorable year where he remained undefeated in all trampolining competitions.

He also won a hat-trick of national gold medals and making the final of his age group at the Elite Super League Final at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Newman said: “It feels great to win, all my hard work has paid off.


Goldstein revels in Maccabi GB Awards glory

England star Russell Goldstein insists he can take the Futsal World Cup by storm after winning the top individual prize at the Maccabi GB Sports Awards.

Goldstein was crowned elite athlete of the year, while trampolinist Josh Newman, who is also from Essex, received the top national level accolade.

A small triangle passing move on the outside of the box led to a layoff to Ben who with one-step, smashed it into the top left-hand corner from outside the area.

Zahavi ready to set Europe alight

Eran Zahavi is set to leave Maccabi Tel Aviv next month when the transfer window opens.

Reports in Germany claim Maccabi recently rejected a €3 million (£2,114,470) offer from Hannover while Werder Bremen are also interested.

Maccabi are reluctant to release their talismanic captain, but they will be hoping a bidding war develops for the prolific goal-scorer.
