Watch out for Flixton, says Rosenberg

AFC Flixton have high hopes of taking to the Accountants League Premier Division like a duck to water, according to joint-manager Tony Rosenberg.

The newly-promoted club were no strangers to toppling teams from the top-tier in cup competitions last season.
Now they have the chance to do that every week ahead of their curtain-raiser against Deloitte.

With teams from five northern clubs affiliated to Association of Jewish Golf Clubs & Societies making the journey across the Irish sea, local knowledge proved key for Edmonstown who recorded the best team net.

Having been forced to move home matches to Cyprus, Israel fought back well from an opening match defeat against Montenegro to win Group B in style.

Israel move Belgium qualifier back

Israel’s opening home match in the Euro 2016 qualifying tournament against Belgium has been postponed until March 31 due to the Gaza conflict.

Israel were due to host the group favourites on September 9, but the game will now be played in Jerusalem, three days after Israel hosts Wales at the Sammy Ofer Stadium in Haifa.

Super Sela marches on

Dudi Sela stormed into the second round of the Men's Singles at the US Open with a thrilling four-set victory over Carlos Berlocq.

Berlocq of Argentina took the first set in swashbuckling fashion 6-1, but Sela rallied superbly to level the match after taking the second set 6-2.

Sela was the dominant force in set three, winning 6-3, before he powered home to win the fourth 7-5.
