Paris powers to junior title

Joshua Paris continued his preparations for this summer’s Maccabiah Games by winning the Aegon Junior International tournament in Nottingham.

Paris, who will captain the Maccabi GB Maccabiah squad in Israel, beat Corentin Denolly of France 6-3, 7-6 (7-2) in the final of the under-18 Grade 4 competition.

Encouraging signs from Barnett and Bongart

Anna Barnett and James Bongart, the two winners of the 2012 Daniel Sacks Awards for Young Athletes, have opened their seasons with significant personal bests in their principal events.

Barnett, 13, threw 25.50m in the discus at Crystal Palace and 28.71m in the hammer at the Kent Young Athletes meeting in Bromley.
