David Norman has been appointed first team manager Wingate and Finchley.

He takes over from caretaker manager Ben Winston who will work alongside the new boss.

Winston commented: “I'm really excited to be working with Dave. I think together we can form an exciting partnership and push Wingate further up the league table. We can't wait to get started. I think he is the man who can move us forward.”

Norman has previously been in charge of Oswestry Town in the Welsh Premier League before the club merged with TNS Llansantffraid to form The New Saints. He also enjoyed a successful playing career in Wales having had stints with major clubs in the principality including Rhyl, Bangor City, Technogroup Welshpool Town and Barry Town. It was with Barry where he was part of the side that took the Jenner Park club to the heady heights of the Uefa Cup first round, the first and only Welsh club to achieve the feat since the formation of the League of Wales.

Norman also signed for Sammy McIlroy's successful Macclesfield Town side of the mid 1990's that won both the Conference title and FA Trophy following a spell with Midlands outfit Telford United.

More recently, he has been working with Liverpool and Arsenal in a coaching capacity and is a UEFA B Licence holder.
