Faithfold C 1-3 Red Sea
It was a case of one up, one down as Red Sea clinched promotion to Division One and sent Faithfold C down after winning a thrilling end-of-season finale at Chase Lodge.
The opening goal came three minutes before the interval. Stefan Benfredj struck his free kick with power and pace, leave Faithfold keeper David Garson with no chance.
The second half was more of a spectacle but was settled as a contest on the hour mark as David Lussman’s corner curled towards the net with Jason Lindsay helping it over the line.
Supersub Josh Jacobs cemented the win with a composed finish from a Gideon Gold through ball.
Faithfold claimed a consolation in the last five minutes when a Mikey Field corner was met at the far post by Tony Plaskow.
The final whistle was greeted by cheers from the Red Sea delegation as a first adventure into Division One was guaranteed.
Red Sea stand-in manager Mark Lazarus commented: “The entire squad has worked tremendously hard to go up.” Looking ahead to next season, he said: “We have a small squad but if we work on our fitness, there is no reason why we cannot win Division One next year.”
Faithfold boss David Garson said: “We are disappointed but we will be back. Congratulations to Red Sea who deserved it. I wish them all the best.”
