Australian Open doubles winners Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich bagged another title when they won the Indian Wells Masters tournament following a straight sets win over Daniel Nestor and Nenad Zimonjic.

Having won their first-ever grand slam tournament in Melbourne earlier this year, the Israeli duo have climbed to seventh in the world rankings, and are the world’s top-ranked doubles pair when counting just this year’s performances. The duo have already pocketed $625,000 in prize money this year, compared to $574,000 in all of 2007.

“We don’t plan stopping here,” said Ram. “There’s still a lot for us to play for this year with three more grand slams and the Olympics.”

Tzipi Obziler won the Tenerife tournament in Spain, beating local favourite Carla Suarez Navarro (133) in the final. The victory lifted Obziler to 103 in the world rankings and should ensure her automatic qualification for the French Open and Wimbledon.

Dudi Sela has moved up to a career high 61 in the ATP rankings after beating Nicolas Kiefer (49) in the first round at Indian Wells. Harel Levy (159) enjoyed his best victory on the ATP circuit for six years when he beat fast-rising Belgian star Steve Darcis (47) at the qualifying tournament for the Miami Masters.
