Perfect 10 for rampant Lions
Scoring a perfect 10 in all departments, the football on show wouldn't have looked out of place in the Barclays Championship with reward for all the players' hard work so far this season beginning to bear fruits.
A Ben Lampert hat-trick, an Adam Stolerman double, one apiece from Nick Goodman, Danny Castle, Max Fieldgrass, Bradley Lazarus and an own goal gave London Lions their greatest margin of victory since joining the Herts County League almost 10 years ago.
With conditions almost perfect for football, both sides started strongly without either side stamping their authority on the game. However, Guy Helman, back from a recent hamstring injury, had other ideas and his work rate, unselfish play and genius was a constant danger throughout earning him the accolade of man of the match.
Once the first goal was scored the Lions grew in strength taking their football to another level which Bovingdon simply had no answer to.
Lampert who was unlucky to miss out on the MOM award put in another tremendous attacking midfield display supported strongly by Danny Castle and Ben Lauffer.
Danny Berliner in the Lions goal had very little to do in the 90 minutes but when called upon was assured and tidy. Guy Morris and Adam Myeroff were solid at the heart of the defence backed up reliably by Adam Lauffer and Eddie Manson at full-back.
It was the attacking three of Stolerman, Goodman and Helman where the flair and tenacity was coming from and Bovingdon just couldn't deal with it.
Supersub Bradley Lazarus helped himself to goal of the day just piping Stolerman with a thunderous finish from 20 yards.
Obviously the league is a marathon not a sprint but with 14 points out of 18 on the board already it does seem the Lions are growing in confidence and belief.
With Dominique Cheniart, Sam Reeves, Rob Abrahams, Lee Cash and skipper Rob Glass all missing and to come back for once the Lions have strength in depth to continue their assault on the league with every player now fighting for their shirt.
Next up for the Lions is a tricky away game against Wormley Rovers.
