Meir magic saves Reds

Alyth Belsize Reds goalkeeper Anthony Meir was the star of the show after helping his team reach the final of the Under 11 Maccabi Challenge Cup. He saved four penalties and scored one as the Reds beat Alyth Belsize Whites in a shootout after the semi-final finished 1-1 after extra time. Leo Ackerman’s first-half strike was cancelled out by Theo Abramson for the Reds.

HMH reached the national final of the National Maccabi Cup after beating Hendon Inter Schools 4-3 on penalties. The teams were locked at 2-2 after extra time. Joseph Eagell and Daniel Jacob netted for HMH. Chaim Korman bagged a brace for Hendon. Jacob scored the decisive penalty after keeper Ori Goldberg saved two.

Anthony Chern, Alex Trup and Ollie Sanker were on target as Pinner JFC beat St. Albans City South in the WFL Spring Shield Group C Under 16 Division.

Pinner JFC Under 11s made a flying start in their first game in the WFL seven-a-side Gold Medal competition. Jeremy Ben-Nathan, Maxim Green and Jacob Taylor scored in the 3-1 success over Muswell Hill Tigers.

Two goals from George Ratner earned London Maccabi Lions a 2-1 win over Whetstone Tigers in the WFL Under 11 Division.

Levi Levenfiche (2), Sam Greenberg, Michael Kenley and Zac Skry were the marksmen as Lions Under 14s claimed a 5-4 win over Croxley Guild.

Ethan Herman (3) steered Lions Under 12s to a 3-2 win over St Albans City.

Jamie Randall was the matchwinner as Lions Under 11s edged past Hemel Youth in the West Herts League.
