Furman ready to shine in front of 90,000 supporters

Dean Furman says he's still pinching himself and has been living in a dream world ahead of tomorrow’s Africa Cup of Nations opener against Cape Verde.

The South Africa midfielder is set to make his first competitive start in front of 90,000 home fans just months after making his debut against Brazil.

Oldham captain Furman has enjoyed a rapid rise since linking up with Bafana Bafana and is hoping to add to his six caps following his breakthrough into the team last October.

The host nation also face Angola and Morocco in Group A and Furman cannot wait to get going.

"The game against Cape Verde will definitely be one of the biggest games of my career along with my professional debut for Rangers and my debut for South Africa in Brazil," he told the JC.

"To play in front of 90,000 home fans at Soccer City will definitely be a dream come true.

"The atmosphere in the home games I have played so far have been incredible. Excitement is building for the kick off and I expect the atmosphere to be very special.

"I have to pinch myself at times but I am enjoying every moment and I am very proud to be part of my national team.

"But it's definitely time to get down to playing the football. We have enjoyed our build up to the tournament but can't wait for the kick off now."
