Makeshift Camden Park edge through
PETER MORRISON TROPHY ROUND THREE
CAMDEN PARK 2 HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB C 1
Camden Park were given a scare by cup giant-killing specialists in Wembley, as Guy Marks and Richard Silver took the first division side through.
Hendon of Division Three hit the post inside the first 10 seconds of the tie, with Camden coming into the game with some nice passing moves.
Strom at right-back and new signing Weinstein at centrE-back for Hendon more than matched the Camden forwards. Overall Hendon had the clearer chances in the first half with Adam Jacobs putting on over when clean through.
Just before the half-time whistle Camden corner bounced around the box and was rifled in.
The second half started much the same and Camden snatched a second, but the real moment of magic was to come. Strom sent a long ball forward and the Camden keeper could only head the ball away from just out of his area. Alex Elf, with his back to goal and standing 30-40 yards out rose and 'Ibrahimovic' style bicycle kicked an over-head shot over the despairing Camden defenders lunges on the line. Goal of the season.
The strike, though, proved in vain as Hendon could not find the second goal to force extra-time.
Camden's Nick Kagan told JC Sport: "Hendon posed a tougher test than their league position suggests. They were up for it and in our face for the whole 90. However, we put in a professional display despite missing a number of key players and probably should have done better with some of the chances we created."
