Swansea want Shechter

Israel star Itay Shechter is set to sign for Premier League side Swansea City on a season-long loan deal.

The 25-year-old, who currently plays in Germany with Kaiserslautern, watched the Swans defeat Blackpool 4-2 in their pre-season friendly last night.

Swansea boss Michael Laudrup has held talks with the player and is confident of obtaining a work permit for the striker.

Shechter managed just three goals in 23 appearances for the Bundesliga side in his first season after joining from Hapoel Tel Aviv.
