Team GB eye rugby gold

June 18, 2012

Rugby boss Jon Tyler has set his sights on leading Team GB to a golden summer at the 2013 Maccabiah Games.

Team GB are planning to send open teams for both the 15-a-side and rugby sevens competition as well as under-16 and under-19 squads.

Tyler is expecting over 70 players to make the trip to Israel and is looking to run the rule over the squads at the next training session on June 24.

“Even though we have a number of applications, I am keen to receive as many applications as possible from all age groups from all over the country,” he said.

“We are interested in people for all positions and age groups, but particularly any 6 foot 10 inch players would be very useful!

“Three years ago at the Maccabiah Games, the GB rugby team had to content themselves with the Silver medal.

“This time we are determined to come home with the Gold.”
