Jacob Huller was the hat-trick hero as Manchester Maccabi registered a comfortable 3-0 victory over Lions to claim the Maccabi GB Cup.

Manchester boss David Lewis commented: “The boys were magnificent. Their commitment and determination, together with their quick movement of the ball, proved too much for our opponents.

"It was an awesome performance against a physically stronger and older team. The discipline, organisation and a will to win, right from the start, was the standard set for the rest of the game".

"To be National Champions in our first full season together at 11' a side, says it all about the quality and character of this young team."

"We will look forward to defending our trophy next year."

Lions boss Gavyn Fresco said: “Unfortunately for us, we were unable to get our normal passing game going. Manchester Maccabi chased and harried every ball and stifled our midfield and stopped us getting the ball on the ground, and then out to our wingers who this season have been excellent as have the rest of our boys.

“The first goal was crucial, especially on the size of pitch and the horrible conditions that we had to encounter on Sunday. We had the better of the first half but were unable to take the chances that fell to us and once Manchester scored I sensed a little bit of our morale dropping which is also very unusual for us this season.

“Manchester Maccabi had a game-plan and stuck to it. They worked incredibly hard as a team and overall deserved there victory as when the chances needed to be taken they were.

“My boys worked tirelessly for the entire game and I cannot fault any of them for the effort they had put in and off course I was extremely proud that we had managed to reach the final.

“We had played some great football on the way and, hopefully the boys will learn from this experience and will be the first of many finals that they take part in over the coming years.”
