Flying start for Kurrant
Jonathan Kurrant made a successful start as an England player in the international double-header against Switzerland.
Kurrant, who is 23 and from Abridge, won his first cap in a 3-1 victory in Hereford. This was followed by a 4-1 win 24 hours later.
He said: "The games were played at a very high intensity. These matches are all about fighting for ranking points with a view to qualifying for the 2014 World Cup finals."
Kurrant, who is doing a Masters degree in Sports Coaching at Loughborough University, hopes to be part of the next England squad that will play Denmark in Barking next month.
"Futsal is a growing sport," he said. "The National League has helped the sport develop, but I think we need academies at every Premier League club to help it really take off."
A star of the Team GB squad who won silver in Open Football at the 2009 Maccabiah Games, Kurrant was this week involved in the British Universities and Colleges National Futsal Championships. He said: "Realistically, I think Loughborough are one of the favourites. We're confident of reaching the final."
