Gai Assulin has vowed to kick-start his career by firing Brighton & Hove Albion into the Championship play-offs.

The 20-year-old Israeli has yet to make an appearance for Manchester City since joining the club from Barcelona back in August 2010.

Assulin, who recently joined the Seagulls on loan, has failed to persuade City boss Roberto Mancini that he merits a place in his 25-man Premier League squad.

And the talented midfielder is now determined to show Mancini what he's missing by helping Albion to a top-six finish.

"I was frustrated at City, but now I'm turning over a new page," he said.

"I have to look forward and do my best every day, in every game and at every opportunity.

"It has been difficult for me in Manchester. It has been difficult because I would like to play but that's up to the manager.

"I want to play and learn. I hope we can get close to the play-offs because I think Brighton deserve it."

Assulin has made two substitute appearances for Gus Poyet's side since arriving on the South Coast last month and could feature against Doncaster tomorrow.

The playmaker says he feels right at home after claiming Brighton play in a very similar way to the current European champions.

"It's quite similar to Barcelona," he added. "Brighton try to play football the right way.

"Gus has a lot of experience and I'm trying to learn from him every day."
