JC CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP SEMI-FINAL

CORIN BREAKS RAIDERS HEARTS
HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A 2 NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A 1 AET
A stunning extra time strike from Greg Corin kept alive Hendon's treble hopes as they came from behind to beat Raiders at Hadley FC.

SEE MATCH PHOTOS

It appeared that Hendon's hopes of reaching a third consecutive Anekstein Cup final were over until Corin popped up with an equaliser deep into injury time from the edge of the box. His speculative effort through a ruck of players from the edge of the box left Raiders keeper Dan Cohen rooted to the spot.

Raiders had taken a shock lead when defender Michael Sacks headed a corner on to the post, leaving striker Jacob Gold to fire the ball over the line from close range.

With time running out, and referee Laurie Benson looking at his watch, Corin levelled things up before a sensational effort from 40 yards - think Nayim from the halway line.

Barnett went on to add a second before star man Ben Mandell finished the job.

Strikes from Stefan Simons and Oli Simons helped Blizzard make a winning start in the Barry Goldstein Cup with a hard four win over fourth division Bilbaum in Hampstead.

Blizzard's other strike came through an own goal.

Bilbaum's goal came through joint-player-manager Ed Green.

Blizzard boss Simon Linden told JC Sport: "It was a tough game and we made hard work of the victory. We missed a lot of chances, but fair play to Bilbaum who in spells made it a struggle for us.

"I'm delighted with the three points to take into the game against JLGB next week."

Bilbaum co-boss Mark Pasha told JC Sport: "Not the dream start in the cup, but a really well contested game of football which we are of course gutted not to have taken anything from.

"With some big names out the side this morning, there is still a lot more to come from the Baums on the glorious road to Wingate."

DC Prediction: Athletic Bilbaum 2 Blizzard Storm 2
