GB football managers named for 2013 Maccabiah

February 7, 2012

The management teams for Youth, Open and both 35+ and 45+ Masters Football at the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Israel have been announced by Maccabi GB, in partnership with UJIA.

David Pollock has been appointed Open team manager, with Bobby Fisher working alongside him as coach.

Pollock was involved with the successful Open Football team, who won gold at last summer's European Maccabi Games in Vienna, and has previous experience of winning Gold in Israel when he was part of the successful 45+ Masters team at the 2009 Maccabiah Games.

The Youth squad (under 18) will be managed by Joel Nathan and Scott Shulton his coach and Josh Gordon assistant coach. Nathan and Shulton led the Youth football team to gold at last summer's European Maccabi Games and relish the opportunity of bringing home gold from Israel.

Jamie Cole and Daniel Jacobs have been appointed joint managers of the 35+ Masters team, whilst Brian Donne will be managing the 45+ with Daniel Collins as his assistant.

Donne and Collins have both been involved with Maccabi GB for many years and the latter is currently Vice-Chairman and Head of Sport. Donne will be looking to make up for his disappointing campaign with the 45+ Masters team at the 2009 Maccabiah where he was injured in the very first match, ruling him out of the rest of the competition.

Of their appointments David Kyte commented: "As is always the case with football, we received many applications for these much sought after positions. Whilst they were all of the highest quality, we are happy with our selections and look forward to seeing them all bring home medals in 2013.

"2011 was a strong year for Team GB at the European Maccabi Games, bringing home gold in both the Youth and Open age groups.

"Whilst this is a tough act to follow, we know we have appointed the best men for the job."
