HERTS COUNTY CUP LAST 16
London Maccabi Lions Blue 4 London Maccabi Lions White 0
London Maccabi Lions Blue moved into the last eight of the Herts County Cup after beating their counterparts from the White team at Rowley Lane.
Lions Blue boss Nicky Bloom said: "It was a scoreline that flatters us to be truthful and doesn't tell the story of the game which can be summed up by the fact that we took our chances whereas our opposition didn't."
The Whites had the better of the possession for the opening 20 minutes and after that were the equal of the Blues but couldn't convert the chances they created whereas the Blues did.
The opening goal came from a quality turn and finish from Josh Bloom and it wasn't until literally the stroke of half time that Jordan Marks finished from a tight angle to double the lead.
In between the Whites created a number of good chances but either couldn't find the target or when they did they could not get past the Blues keeper.
The match was full of commitment from two team keen to progress into the last eight of the competition with both sides giving 100 per cent - a great showcase for the junior section of the club.
The second half was much the same as the first, the Blues never completely dominated but their organisation and strength gave them the platform to secure the game.
Charlie Rubin scored a trademark screamer and Marks got a second following a great run on goal.
Bloom added: "We now move into the quarter-finals of this prestigious competition knowing that we will have to raise our game to an even higher level if we are to progress further."
