Daran Bern made a dramatic return to the JC MSFL to help defending champions Redbridge Jewish Care overcome leaders North West Neasden A.

Having left the club at the end of last season after inspiring them to a historic double, Bern joined Adam Bolle on the scoresheet in a 2-0 victory.

Bern, last season's Player of the Year, lined up in a strong starting XI that also featured Josh Kennet, the former Maccabi Herzliya and Oxford star, and striker Bolle, who was once on the books of Leyton Orient.

Redbridge manager Eilon Kennet said: "It really made a change to actually have a proper squad available to select from and also to be able to influence the game from the bench.

"It allowed us the opportunity of starting with a game-plan and the flexibility to change it if necessary. Josh and Bernie, on either wing, were a constant menace on the break.

"Now we'll take it one game at a time. You never know with football. That's why it's a funny old game."

Neasden joint-manager Darren Yarlett said: "Redbridge have a lot to do if the want to retain the league and hope Hendon slip up in three or four games which I just can't see."
