Haroldeans get rude awakening

Fraser Saville believes Haroldeans have been given a real wake up call after they crashed to their first defeat of the season and were dumped out of the Peter Morrison Trophy.

The Merseysiders, who have won nine out of nine in the MJSL and are nine points clear at the summit, were trounced 5-0 by Leeds Maccabi 1st in Yorkshire.

Despite playing the majority of the second half against ten men following Josh Rose’s sending off, Haroldeans were unable to get back in the game.

But joint-manager Saville says this defeat could be the wake up call his side need as they go in search of MJSL league glory.

“We had a lot of players missing, perhaps seven or eight and that made a difference,” said Saville.

“But perhaps this is a wake up call for the lads because we’ve not been beaten yet and they don’t like losing.

“We played well for part of the games and had some chances but Leeds are a very good side and have a good record in the competition.

“We’ve now got to concentrate on the league and MJSL cups and make sure we win something this season.”
