Domb doubts title talk
David Domb insists his Hyde Park side have not given up hope of landing the MJSL title but concedes they face an almighty challenge to dislodge league leaders Haroldeans.
The Leeds-based students were held to a 1-1 draw by Republic of Mancunia 1st after Mark Clayton atoned for his earlier own-goal with a dramatic equaliser.
Rovers are now 12 points behind Haroldeans with a game in hand ahead of their clash with the Merseysiders on Sunday.
And Domb says his players must be realistic about their objectives for the season following last weekend’s stalemate.
“There’s no way we’re giving up the title but I think the gap between us and Haroldeans is probably a bit too big now,” he said.
“We obviously need to win on Sunday but even then we’re way behind them. Perhaps it’s time to reassess our targets.
“We know we can still make this a successful season by winning trophies so nobody is disappointed.
“We can take a lot of heart from the way we played against Republic but again it’s a late goal which has cost us.
“I can’t praise the boys enough though because they’ve taken everything we’ve said in training and carried it out in the game.”
