Domb ready to walk the walk
David Domb has urged his Hyde Park stars to do their talking on the pitch when they face Republic of Mancunia 1st on Sunday.
The Rovers boss is desperate for his side to get back on track following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat by South Manchester 2nd in the Harold Feldman Trophy.
Domb has held a series of talks with his players in a bid to help propel the team towards the upper reaches of the MJSL.
But Domb says the time has come for the talking to stop and is hoping actions speak louder than words on Sunday.
“The players have talked the talk but now they’ve got to walk the walk,” said Domb.
“We’re a very close bunch of lads and everybody has voiced their opinions but they’ve got to go and put it into action on the pitch.
“We were all disappointed to go out of the cup last week but our heads are still up because we know we’re a good side.
“We’ve got some great players but perhaps the only thing we need to work on is keeping our shape when the other team have the ball.
“We need to be more disciplined when the other side are in possession and make sure we’re difficult to break down.
“There are lots of goals in the side and I know we can score, so it’s important we try and keep it tight.”
Rovers are 11 points off top spot with two games in hand and although their chances of success seem remote, Domb is confident his side can still challenge for the title.
“I’ve no doubt that it will all come together and we’ll be successful,” he added.
“But we need to pick up points if we’re to challenge the leaders and that has to start against Republic on Sunday.
“We know they’re a good team although there have been a few changes there with Moshe Hasid leaving the club.
“But they’re still a good side and we’ll have to play well to get anything.”
