London Maccabi Lions C got off to a roaring start to the new season as they showed their bouncebackability from being a goal down against Redbridge C.

Redbridge's opened the scoring following from a mix-up in the middle of the park from a challenge on Hadley Silver by Sam Senchal. All players stopped thinking the whistle had gone when in fact it hadn’t. In the midst of the confusion Richard Gold decided to be a mensch and pass the ball back to Redbridge. The Redbridge boys took advantage of the gift and when the ball fell to David Castle he lashed it into the corner of the goal.

With Lions a goal down, they continued to play their football, playing through the midfield, attacking on the wings and it was not long until Lions main man James Gold got to the box before laying it square for Lions new signing Joey Lazare to place the ball in the back of the net.

The Second half started and Lions were on a mission. Henry Ziff came close with one of his thunderbolts but the breakthrough finally came when David Elf struck a glorious shot with his weaker foot from 20 yards out leaving both the crowd and keeper speechless.

The game was finally sealed when the nuisance that is James Gold hustled his way into the box before drilling a ball towards goal, hitting a man on the way, and finally creeping inside the keeper's near post.

LML manager James Kyte was in a reflective mood after game. He said: "What a fantastic start to the season and what a way to win the game.

"Being 1-0 down isn’t easy but we kept focused and pulled through. I thought our two new signings Klein and Lazare did a great job in their respective positions but it was the whole attitude and discipline of the team that was most impressive."
