Barnet end Mill Hill hoodoo

A terrific team performance helped Barnet Synagogue overcome their counterparts from Mill Hill.

Having lost to their opponents for the last two years, Barnet drew first blood when Mike Stone held his nerve to take a high catch.

An exceptional spell (5-15) from Adam Ellis helped Barnet keep Mill Hill on the back foot. He was well supported by Noah Lipschitz (2-7), Phil Ellis and Stone.

The Barnet bowling attack was well supported in the field with Phil Ellis and Paul Weber as Mill Hill were dismissed for 85 off 24 overs.

Barnet’s reply got off to a steady start with Lipschitz and Weber looking in good touch, but an uncharacteristic sweep across the line from Weber boosted Mill Hill’s chances.

Lipschitz was in sensational form, spraying shots to all parts of the ground off front and back foot, ably supported by lovely knocks from Phil Ellis and Richard Carlowe.

He went on to complete a fine 42 not out as Lawrence Inman hit the winning runs after only 17 overs.

Barnet skipper Paul Weber said: "What pleased me most was to see new and old players taking part in a relaxed fun game."
