Harris heroics inspire LMV 2nd
A maiden century from the evergreen Jeremy Harris led London Maccabi Vale 2nd to a seven-wicket victory in a friendly against Crouch End.
Harris’ excellent knock came on the back of a golden duck last week. He was dominant from the start following the early loss of Nigel Rothband who suffered a rare failure.
LMV were inserted on the main strip at Shenley. The team has an experienced look and feel about it with several junior members unavailable - studying for exams. Only Simeon Cohen was under the age of 25.
Harris dominated partnerships of 70 with David Freedman and Daniel Caplan who finished unbeaten on 24.
Earlier, Crouch End’s innings was kept in check by fine opening spells from Jonathan Lederman J and Jeremy Freedman. They reduced the batsmen to quick singles to try and get their score moving.
An excellent spell from Jeff Permutt (3-31) and two wickets for the veteran spinner, chairman Terry Hyman (2-21) ensured that LMV would only be chasing a modest total of 175.
