JCBGC Penpics: Faithfold C

By Danny Caro, April 13, 2011

Player-manager David Garson introduces you to his Faithfold C team.

Semi-final – 1-0 vs Temple Fortune – Simons
Match 3 – BT Heath Banta 5-0 - Leveson, Blain (2), Sugarbread, Viola
Match 2 – bt Real Life 3-2 – Simons (2), Blain
Match 1 – drew 2-2 NL Raiders C – Franklin, Kleiman

Dave Grabiner - The ‘Cat’ has been ever present since joining this season. Fantastic shot stopper. A former divisional player of the year.

Charlie Resnick - One of the original C team squad members and veteran from the last final. The Rory Delap of the team with a huge long throw

Adam Leveson - We only recently discovered that ‘Shaggy’ was not his real name. Solid defender who is partial to the odd Scooby snack

Ricky Stoltzman - Prone to shouting ‘come on you irons’ at random times our happy pacy hammer plays with a smile on his face and chips in with the odd exceptional goal ad matching celebration

Josh Franklin - Winner of the least punctual player award (strange as he has the fastest car) tough tackling full back who can also play down the wing.

Steven Moss - The team have not heard screams of ‘Mossy’s ball’ quite as much as we would have liked due to a variety of injuries over the seasons. Team captain and Mr Versatile (except in goal!)

Ben Portnoi - Converted from a full back to a centre midfielder this season, fantastic engine and enjoying playing in the middle of the park

Matty Kleinman - Duracell Bunny who just keeps on going in midfield. Has had a tough season with injuries recently returned to playing consistently which has benefited the team massively

Gary Dymant - Tough tackling centre midfielder, the hod carrier who gets little of the glory (especially next to Berry!)

Nic Viola - Our very own ‘Diego’ Nic can pretty much pay anywhere and has for us over the seasons. Returning from injury and is a great calming asset to the team

Steve Benson – ‘Benno’ is the Peter Pan of the team defying age & comfortable both at centre back, full back and lately the right wing

Josh Sugarbread - Recognised by his flowing long locks, in desperate need of a haircut our free scoring winger has the sweetest left foot at the club

Rob Phillips - Often appears that the ball is glued to his foot has dazzled on the wing and upfront. His progress post new year has been thwarted by his champagne lifestyle on a Saturday night

Ben Simons - Veteran of our last cup final. ‘Boris’ is king of the flip-flop & is top scorer at the club once again this season.

Jonny Blain - Blainy is now finally living the dream having joined Faithfold and could not have started his career any better having scored a hat-trick in his first 10 minutes

Simon Beresford - Our player coach ‘Berry’ has chipped in with plenty of goals this season both from midfield and attack, not shy in voicing his opinions and has the ability to shoot from anywhere.

David Garson - Tactical genius and first name on the team sheet as he picks it. Has lead them to glory before in this cup and hard to say a bad word against (especially as he wrote this!)
