Double delight for Hendon United
Hendon United Sports Club A are toasting a win double after they scooped the JC MSFL November awards for Player and Manager of the Month.
Unsung hero Ben Kon wins the top player award. He gets the nod ahead of Greg Corin with Yishai Last and Dovid Korman also coming in for special praise.
Kon currently stands on six goals this season. He bagged braces against London Maccabi Lions A and B and grabbed another against Southgate Harmen A.
Manager David Garbacz has really come into his own in November, with the team playing scintillating football and scoring lots of goals.
Lying three points clear of nearest rivals Redbridge A, the Hammers have been in top form with wins over Lions B, Harmen A and Lions A – accumulating 18 goals -
“The league table is beginning to take shape and we are starting to put ourselves into a nice position. We are looking very solid at the moment and are playing with bundles of confidence. We are delighted to have hit top spot and it will take a decent team to budge us this year.”
“We will be keeping our feet on the ground and taking each game as they come, but there is a real belief amongst the boys that this year we are the team to beat
The Division One awards are split between Brady Maccabi and leaders North London Raiders B. Brady midfielder Josh Hershman has been in eye-catching form, while the Raiders have climbed to the summit under the jurisdiction of gaffer Rob Richman. And only last Sunday, they took JC League Cup holders Lions A to the wire.
It’s a win double for table-toppers Norstar A in Division Two. Left-back Robin Scher has been a revelation. He edged out centre back Jonny Pressman who signed in October.
Having taken the team seven points clear at the top, Phil Peters is the top man. Speaking about the performances of Scher, Peters told JC Sport: “Mr Dependable, has been the outstanding performer of the season so far and has been ever present in November without putting a foot wrong. He bleeds orange, and has really stepped up to the plate this season. Left back’s really get much credit but he deserves all the plaudits.”
There was a big surprise in Division Three where Holy Mount Zion’s 100 per cent record in November was rewarded with credits for top-scorer Mariusz Mielnisczuk and boss Rob Lerner.
The Division Four award was touch and go with Inter Borehamwood, Hendon C and Shirley Park impressing the judges. In the end, striker Jason Lindsay was named top dog following seven goals including two hat-tricks. He edged out Inter’s Jerome Colmans and Hendon’s Benny Goldberg.
But the Hustlers had the final say in the managerial stakes with player-boss Avi Gelley pipping Oluseun Thomas and Dan Oade and Dave Lusman to the gong.
Young keeper Jake Doffman landed the Safe Hands award.
Woodford Wanderers’s recent cup win over FC Team A was also recognised with five-goal hero Mitch Hahn commended.
