Teen athlete tops personal bests

Richard Goodman, 17, brought his track season to a close with personal bests at either end of the middle distance range. First he beat top class senior opposition to win the 800m in the British Athletics League final in Hendon. His time of 1:53.47 improved his personal best by 1.27 seconds, and his win helped Shaftesbury Barnet to win the title of Top UK Athletics Club.

In his final race of the track season he tackled the 5,000m event for the first time, in the British Milers Club meeting at Watford. His time of 14:22.29 in third place also placed him third in the UK Under 20 rankings for the event.
