Champion: Ellie Edwards received tips from Olympian Linford Christie
Ellie Edwards had the opportunity of a lifetime when she attended a unique masterclass in Manchester.
Edwards, 13, received specialist coaching from sprint legends Tyson Gay, Debbie Ferguson-McKenzie, Kim Collins, Linford Christie and Felix Sanchez at the indoor athletics track at Sport City.
A Sale Harrier and Manchester High School athlete, Edwards had been invited to the session after winning the Manchester Street Sprints competition last year.
The stars were in Deansgate for the Great City Games which were held on Sunday at a specially constructed street track.
After helping the participants warm-up, the legends put them into separate groups where they were shown sprint starts, how to use blocks and hurdles for the first time and other various drills.
Edwards said: "I found the session extremely beneficial. It was an honour to have been invited."
She is one of the front-runners to win the inaugural JC Daniel Sacks Award in recognition of outstanding sporting achievement. Among her recent performances, Edwards won the Greater Manchester Schools 200m title in a time of 27.6 seconds.
She also completed the Trafford Open Medal Meeting 100m in 13.5 and earned a podium place at the McCain UK Young Athletics Northern Premier League.
