FC Team in London FA Cup final

FC Team manager Mitch Young has named a full-strength squad ahead of tomorrow's London FA Cup final against holders Flanders FC.

An excellent run of form in the second half of the season has helped FC Team climb the Middlesex County League Division One table, and they go into the match full of optimism.

Having only conceded twice in five rounds on the way to the final at Croydon Athletic FC, Young is quietly confident of beating a team who last season won the Essex Business Housing League Premier League.

"They are a strong opponent who are used to the big stage," said Young. "I do not consider us the favourites as we are playing against the holders, a team that scores goals for fun.

"However, on our day we are a match for anyone and if we can get big performances out of our star players we stand a good chance. As long as we give it our all and make no mistakes we can have no regrets."

Striker Richard Salmon has scored four times in the competition and ahead of the side's first major final, Young is confident that his team will rise to the occasion. "Obviously we're extremely excited. Spirit in the camp is high and we're determined to make the most of the experience."

The manager has pulled out all the stops with the team staying in a hotel overnight. They will arrive at the ground in club suits and will be cheered on by several coachloads worth of supporters.

Young said: "I have built the club up from nothing to have three teams and our first team has now reached a major cup final. I am so proud."

Although not an exclusively Jewish team, Young has been inspired by the displays of midfield general Laurence Judah and defender Dan Silverman, as well as Salmon.

Win or lose, it is clear that Young is proud of how quickly the side have progressed. "My players usually all step it up for the big games and I see no reason why this will be any different.

"Whatever happens, I want them to enjoy it make sure they play their best and hopefully come home with some silverware."
