Brighton maintained second place and on course for the Premiership playoffs after claiming a hat-trick of successes in the British League Division One.

Led by Dov Katz, the team also included England Jewish No. 1 Ashley Stokes, former England international Cris Sladden and Chinese star Dashua Shi.

They produced a scintillating display in Devon, beating London Progress (5-3), Generation II (6-2) and Woolwell (6-2).

Katz said: “The team is strong. Stokes and Sladden are quality players that perform at the highest level and I am pleased with the overall performances of the squad. Despite having to travel the long distance to Devon, we shrugged off any tiredness and worked hard for some difficult victories.”

The next round of matches take place in Cippenham, Berks, in January.

Alex Murdoch, chairman of the English Table Tennis Association, visited Maccabi GB’s Table Tennis Centre of Excellence at the Kulanu Community Centre, formerly Kenton Maccabi. Mel Davidson, Maccabi GB Table Tennis chairman, said: “Alex seemed impressed with what we had achieved during our two years at the centre. He appreciates what we do here, not just for the community but also for the sport in general where we always try to encourage our players to filter into the mainstream national table tennis system.”
