South Manchester's GMACL title hopes suffered a blow as they went down by 17 runs in a low-scoring contest against struggling Wilmslow.
South started with only 10 players due to considerable unavailability of a number of key players, and unfortunately it showed against the bottom club in the league.
Wilmslow battled well and the outstanding performer with the ball was Steven Allweis who took 5-22 in his 10 overs. South made considerable inroads into the Wilmslow batting order and only Nixon made any impact scoring 89, whilst none of the other batsmen reached double figures as South kept it tight in the field to restrict Wilmslow to 147.
South’s batting line-up was missing five regulars, so trying to reach this target was always going to be tough. Ray Tammam led the way scoring 29, Allweis hit 20, Cohen 23, but they all got themselves out at crucial times and the lack of the extra batsmen showed as South fell agonisingly short.
