History was made at the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona after two Israeli competitors made the final of the same race.

But there was disappointment for Guy Barnea and Jonatan Kopelev who finished seventh and eighth respectively in the 50m backstroke.

Barnea’s time of 25.14 seconds was slower than the 24.73 seconds he had achieved in the semi-finals.

Kopelev’s time of 25.19 seconds also fell short of his semi-final performance and the time of 24.73 seconds he also recorded when winning the gold medal in this event in the European Championships last year.
