Managers proud of rampant Lion cub

London Maccabi Lions under-nine White have become the first Jewish, seven or nine-a-side team, to win a Red Division (Highest Division) title in the Watford Friendly League.

Managed by Nigel Burns, who is also Head of Junior Football at London Maccabi Lions, and Joel Phillips they completed their league season on Sunday, and were presented with the trophy after the game.

They were crowned champions with three games to spare and are currently 11 points clear of their nearest-challengers, Harvesters, who have one game left.

Next Sunday they have the Challenge Cup final, against Whetstone Wanderers Panthers, to end a momentous season for the side.

Burns said: "The boys have really developed this season, and we have often been complimented on the way we play football, some of which has been a joy to watch.

Lions: Scott Leslie, Ben Werter, Brandon Roach, Moshi Benaim, Oliver Kaye, Oliver White, Sam Goldberg, Joe Abrahams, Jason Burns and Dylan Phillips.
