Maccabi Masters review: April 7

By Jeremy Silverstone, April 7, 2013

Glenthorne United B progressed to the semi-finals of the Nathan Horwitz MMFL Division 2 Cup after beating St John's Wood Tigers on penalties.

Neither team could find the net in normal time and Glenthorne held their nerve to win the shoot-out 3-0 to set up a last four clash against Marshside.

Marshside romped home 5-1 against Hendon Harriers thanks to strikes from  Fara Moghim (2), Ed Saleh, Geoff Isaacs and Dan Cuby. Yossi Arvatz grabbed a consolation for Hendon.

Brady Maccabi A won the game of the day in Division One of the Maccabi Masters League, with a double from Dan Reuben steering them past title rivals Glenthorne United A.

Steve Faye replied for Glenthorne who remain two points ahead of the east Londoners, having played a game more.

Alex Bourne was the hat-trick hero as Southgate Harmen won a seven-goal thriller against South Mancs. James Temple sealed helped Harmen finish the weekend in top spot.

Dean Schulberg fired a four-goal salvo as North London Raiders swept aside Waldaf Town 6-2 to move into second spot. Gary Cohen and Ashley Davidson finished the job. Alex Michaels and Steve Krieger replied for Waldaf.

Mancs had been 4-0 down after just half an hour but they staged an excellent fightback with goals from Joel Nathan, Jason Rich and Nik Roman.

In Division Two, a hat-trick from Marc Morris helped London Maccabi Lions come from a goal down to beat Temple Fortune. Darren Coon added the other. James Ryan and Adam Lustigman scored for Fortune.
