Best of luck, son. I’ve been waiting for this day for seven years

By Danny Caro, September 6, 2012

September 9. That date has been in my diary for several months as it marks the football league debut of Caro junior. I’m not sure which one of us is more nervous.

I’ve given up my role as a Maccabi League manager to ensure I’m there by the side of my son, Jacob, who turned seven last week.

These athletes don’t want sympathy. They just want a chance

By Danny Caro, August 23, 2012

Granted, not everyone is gripped by Paralympics fever, but give it a few days and I’m sure we’ll all be singing from the same hymn sheet. Give it a chance. That’s all I’m saying, after one member of my social circle described the Games as “cruel”.

By Danny Caro, August 20, 2012

I’ve lost count of the number of people I’ve spoken to this week suffering from post-Olympic blues. Well, the good news is that there are only 334 days until another major sporting event — the Maccabiah Games.

Golden girl Raisman an Olympic star

By Danny Caro, August 6, 2012

I had a big lump in my throat watching Aly Raisman collect her gold medal after wowing the crowd with her floor routine performed to the Hava Nagila on Monday night. It just doesn’t get better than that.

It was one of those “where were you” moments and it was great to be able to speak to her just moments after she collected her first piece of Olympic silverware.

Londoners, prepare to be amazed

By Danny Caro, July 26, 2012

So, the greatest show on earth officially gets under way on Friday. I hope you are ready?

I was in Jerusalem on Maccabiah duty the day London was named as the 2012 Olympic host city and although there has been plenty of negative coverage in the build-up, from what I’ve seen so far, it looks set to be a roaring success. Even the sun is shining.

Maccabi League stung by Bees' action

By Danny Caro, July 19, 2012

The Hive, also known as Barnet FC’s Centre of Excellence, has been like a home from home for Maccabi football clubs in London over the past three years, but that will change from next season after the League 2 club agreed to house a series of Academy teams.

Passion still runs deep for continuation of Maccabi League

By Danny Caro, July 13, 2012

Don’t panic. That is the overriding message from JC MSFL chairman David Wolff after confirming the world’s biggest Jewish league will start season 2012/13 with 46 teams.

We have seen a gradual decline in numbers in recent years, with the lure of the Premiership, Masters football, five-a-side, work and family commitments the biggest factors.

By Danny Caro, July 6, 2012

All eyes will be on Whitefield Golf Course this weekend as the community’s top golfers go in search of glory at the Glancy.

Hartsbourne have monopolised the tournament in recent times, with four consecutive victories, and it will take something special to wrestle the trophy from their grasp.

By Danny Caro, June 29, 2012

Small but perfectly formed. That is what Israeli sports fans are hoping following the announcement of the country's Olympic squad.
