Following mergers between Orthodox congregations in the Redbridge area, two local Liberal communities are taking the first steps towards amalgamation.

Officers from Bet Tikvah, in Newbury Park, and the Woodford Liberal synagogues have agreed that preliminary merger negotiations should take place.

Redbridge shuls merge

Members of the Clayhall and Newbury Park synagogues have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the first United Synagogue merger in more than a decade.

Subject to US Council ratification, the merged congregation will launch in January as Redbridge United Synagogue, with services at Clayhall's Sinclair House base.


School move aids Redbridge regeneration

Redbridge Jewry celebrated the latest step towards an integrated future with the official opening of the Wohl Ilford Jewish Primary School (IJPS) building.

Catering for more than 400 pupils between the ages of two and 11, IJPS moved to the King Solomon High site in Barkingside last September, following an £11 million redevelopment.

Rosenberg ready for Redbridge role

Former Simon Marks head and Board of Deputies education director Laurie Rosenberg will be the new manager of Redbridge Jewish Community Centre, Sinclair House.

He is currently working as Jewish educator at JCoSS, where he is responsible for developing informal education.

Visit from Orient stars is a (care) home win in Ilford

In what has become a Mitzvah Day tradition, two Leyton Orient footballers visited Jewish Care’s Vi and John Rubens home in Ilford, where they chatted with residents, posed for photographs and signed autographs.

And among those David Mooney and Moses Odubajo met was a man who has supported the Os for more than 90 years.
