The wife of the former prime minister addressed a full house of 350 people at Finchley Synagogue on Tuesday in the launch event of the five-week Kinloss Learning Centre programme.

Desecration at synagogue leads to fast

Members of a London synagogue observed a special fast on Monday after a burglary in which its Torah scrolls were dumped on the floor.

Thousands of pounds' worth of silver artefacts and scroll cases were stolen from Magen Avraham, a congregation of Aden Jews in Finchley, late last Thursday night or in the early hours of Friday.


£7m home opens

Based within the grounds of the Sternberg Centre in East End Road in Finchley, the Masorti community centre incorporates prayer spaces, a youth room and a kindergarten for its 2,700-plus members.


Acting head gets the job for keeps

Morasha Jewish Primary acting head Hayley Gross has been given the job on a permanent basis.

Mrs Gross, 40, has taught at the school since its opening in 2008, having given up a legal career to enter the teaching profession in the late 1990s. She has previously worked in Hong Kong and at Rosh Pinah Primary.


Teen dies in Finchley road tragedy

The teenage son of a Hatton Garden businessman has died after being hit by a car.

Would-be boxer Jourdan Deal, 19, was hit by a Renault Clio as he crossed Regent's Park Road, Finchley, on Friday.

He was a student at Regent's Park Business College and the son of Jonathan Deal, owner of the Heart of Hatton Garden jewellery store, who lives in Finchley with his wife Susan.


'Kind and generous' road crash teenager mourned

The "friendly, kind and generous" teenage son of a Hatton Garden businessman has been killed after being hit by a car.

Jourdan Deal, 19, who had ambitions to take up boxing, died of severe head injuries when he was hit by a black Renault Clio as he was crossing Regent's Park Road, Finchley last Friday evening.

Finchley school's £6m plan

Morasha Jewish Primary School has won planning permission for a £6 million new home in Finchley.

The independent school hopes the project will be a springboard towards voluntary-aided status, enabling its expansion from 56 pupils to 210 from reception to year six.
