Protests drive Ahava out of Covent Garden

The UK branch of Israeli cosmetics store, Ahava, is moving from its central London shop after years of pro-Palestinian demonstrations.

Protesters claim that the products sold in the store are manufactured in a factory in Israeli settlement, Mitzpe Shalom in the West Bank but are "misleadingly" labelled as produced in Israel.

Railway memories honour British Schindler

Liverpool Street Station is to host an exhibition to remember the 669 children rescued by Sir Nicholas Winton during the war.

It will open at the end of May and feature photographs of the 2009 train that travelled the original route from Prague to London, with descendants of the rescued children.

Four accuse Ahava of 'war crimes'

The London Israeli cosmetics shop Ahava has been accused of "war crimes" during a trial of four demonstrators.

The four "stormed" Ahava in Covent Garden twice last year: Matthew Richardson, 24, and Gwendolen Wilkinson, 20, on October 2, and Christopher Osmond, 30, and Jessica Nero, 33, on November 22.

Board of Deputies defends descision on two-state solution

Vivian Wineman, president of the Board of Deputies, defended its position on Israel in a meeting with critics in London on Wednesday night.

It was attended by 90 of the more than 1,000 signatories of an online petition calling on the Board to declare explicit support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

There was plenty to drink a L'Chaim to on Monday evening when Kedem Europe staged its biggest UK kosher wine festival at the Park Lane Hotel in London's West End.

Leading wine writers were among 600 people who enjoyed a taste of premium wines from Israel, Europe, America, South America, Australia and New Zealand.

How to make £57 million in sales

The Otto Schiff Housing Association held a London reception this week to celebrate the potential raising of £57 million from the sale of its assets, the bulk of which has benefited 18 communal charities.

Established in 1933 as the Central British Fund to rescue Jews from Nazi Germany, the association raised the money from the sale of four properties.
