Miliband hails 'fantastic' Norwood at £3m dinner

Ed Miliband has told 1,100 Norwood supporters that charities should never be regarded as “a soft touch” for government cuts.

Addressing Norwood’s annual dinner on Monday at London’s Grosvenor House, which raised £3 million-plus, the Labour leader acknowledged that it had been “a very tough year” for charities heavily reliant on private donors.

UJIA quiz fans tackle a varied question time

Eleven tables of young professionals put themselves to the test, answering questions such as whether Boost chocolate bars are kosher (formerly, but not now) and the year the Beatles formed.

Chabad rabbi punched

A rabbi has described how he was punched during a scuffle with men who shouted antisemitic abuse.

Rabbi Yisroel Lew was struck in the ear after the men launched an unprovoked attack in the early hours of the morning in Baker Street, central London.

The Bloomsbury Chabad director and a friend had been moving items from his office when the incident happened.
