Joining the Belarus party

By Jay Grenby, October 29, 2009

A nine-strong Radlett and Bushey Reform Synagogue group visited Belarus to attend the bar- and batmitzvahs of youngsters from the shul’s twin community of Grodno and the neighbouring town of Lida. The celebrants had been hosted in Radlett in the summer for activities including a religious studies programme.

Headed by Rabbi David Mitchell and Belarus committee chair Paul Janes, the Radlett group started in Grodno, where bowler-hatted progressive rabbi Grisha Abramovich presided over Friday night and Shabbat morning services in which the teenagers had leading roles.

Bushey strikes the right note

By Charlie Jacoby, October 8, 2009

Bushey proved the ideal town-country combination for downsizing couple Michael and Karen Neidus. They had decided to move from their three-bedroom townhouse in Edgware, Middlesex into a new two-bedroom apartment, in Stanmore or Bushey.

“We chose The Collection in Bushey as our ultimate dream home,” says Mr Neidus. “It is a small development of only 13 apartments in a beautiful area on Little Bushey Lane. I’m in the music business, so central London must be accessible to me by road or rail. And now we have the added advantage of being just that little bit further out.”

JFS pupils make the grade with record A-level results

By Robyn Rosen, August 27, 2009

JFS has reported its best-ever A-level results with 78 of its 226 pupils achieving three or more A grades.

“Results of this calibre owe much to excellent and highly focused teaching, our outstanding home–school relationships and the caring guidance and support every student receives,” JFS head Jonathan Miller said.

Emily Goldblatt achieved five A grades and six others got four — Joshua Bellman, Abie Cohen, Greg Garfield, Mark Graham, Coren Lass and Shelley de Jong.

Three in a row put Lions top

August 27, 2009

London Lions are joint-top of the Herts County Premier League Premier Division following a 3-1 victory at newly promoted Croxley Guild.

Tony Gold’s men notched up their third straight win, courtesy of goals from Daniel Levenfiche, Adam Stolerman and Ben Lauffer.

Lions dominated the first half and were duly rewarded on 19 minutes when great work from Lee Cash allowed
Levenfiche to slide in at the far post.

They doubled their advantage on 35 minutes when Daniel Cole and Cash combined for Stolerman to produce a ruthless finish.

London Lions second win against Met Police

By Danny Caro, August 21, 2009

London Lions made it two out of two as they came from a goal down to win 3-2 against last season’s Herts Senior County League champions Met Police Bushey.

Adam Stolerman and a brace from once again man-of-the-match Lee Cash ensured victory at Rowley Lane with the hosts having keeper Matt Davis to thank for a superb penalty save.

Cash’s deadly double set Lions on their way to back-to-back Herts Premier league wins – but they made hard work of it in this five-goal thriller.
