The Future Clean venture in Lewes, funded by East Sussex County Council, follows the success of the north London area outlet in Hatch End.

Business Club launches in Brighton

The Brighton Jewish Business Club has been launched by local Reform synagogue member Nick Beck, who is planning monthly breakfast get-togethers at the shul’s Ajex Hall.

Mr Beck said the club, open to all sections of the community, would provide networking opportunities “in a Jewish context, emphasising Jewish ethics. The rabbis of our community are most welcome to come as well.”

Brighton Israelis get together

Brighton-based Israelis now have their own group.

Gideon Reuveni, director of the Centre for German Jewish Studies at the University of Sussex, and PhD student Sam Freed are the duo behind the initiative.

“Both Gideon and I are quite new to town and the aim in setting up the group was to meet people and speak Hebrew,” Mr Freed explained.

Anti-Israel protesters guilty of trespassing

Two anti-Israel activists have been found guilty of trespassing at a Brighton arms factory.

In April 2011 Jessica Nero and Gavin Pidwell blocked the gates at the EDO MBM plant, claiming they were protesting against the firm’s production of weapons systems supplied to Israel.

The pair are members of the Smash EDO group, whose activists have repeatedly caused disruption at the factory.
