MoD advances on the home front

Ministry of Defence property is for sale in Stanmore, Middlesex. Annington Homes has started releasing houses on Old Church Lane - the first phase of the former MoD homes site. There are two three-bedroom detached homes for sale, each with 1,375 sq ft of floor space and a large garden, making them ideal for extension, subject to planning. Each property has three double bedrooms, two reception rooms, downstairs cloakroom, garage and driveway. The rest of the three- and four-bedroom homes at the site will be released in phases over the coming months.
Local estate agent Anscombe & Ringland is managing the sale. Leon Benardout, associate director, says: "We're seeing a very busy market in this area at the moment, with lots of buyer interest. It's rare for properties to become available on this road, so I expect the Annington homes to be very sought-after. They're in a first-class location - near to the tube and local shopping areas. They also offer a great opportunity to renovate and even add square footage."
Last year, in nearby Bushey, Annington sold 43 former MoD homes with similar layouts to the Stanmore ones.

V On the border of Stanmore, at Canons Corner, Barratt West London is building Evolution. Homes are now available in Canons Square, the first phase, which is a regeneration of high-rise buildings. This comprises 34 one- and two-bedroom apartments, which have already proved so popular that only a handful of two-bedroom apartments now remains for sale, with prices starting from £257,000.
Barratt West London is aiming to create a vibrant, urban living quarter at Evolution which, when complete, will provide 937 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and three- and four-bedroom houses.
The three buildings of Canons Square are set around a courtyard featuring a Mediterranean-style landscaped garden.
Homes are designed for open-plan living, with apartments measuring from approximately 484 sq ft up to 1,033 sq ft. Every apartment enjoys a balcony off the living area, bringing in plenty natural light. The homes also have individually assigned car parking spaces and there is provision for bicycle storage.
Alastair Baird, managing director for Barratt West London, says: "The development's location, combined with the high-quality homes and on-site facilities, make this development extremely appealing to purchasers, hence the high number of sales to date.

Meanwhile, in nearby Bushey, Bellway Homes is offering its Woodlands scheme in Walton Road. Prices here range from £209,995 for a two-bedroom apartment to £374,995 for a three-bedroom townhouse.
