North West Neasden B 1 - 3 Hendon United B
A Ben Kon double helped Hendon secure maximum points against fellow title favourites Neasden B at Bricket Wood.
The visitors made a dream start, racing into a two-goal lead inside the opening eight minutes. Gav Noe put the Hendon after 270 seconds. Capitalising on a mistake from stand-in keeper Mark Cowan, he poked the ball home from 12 yards.
The lead was doubled five minutes later when Konn latched on to Martin Smulovitch's through ball to leave keeper Cowan stranded once again.
Hendon looked to be heading towards a comfortable victory as Kon and Gothold continued to threaten.
Neasden put themselves back in the game, totally against the run of play, on the half hour mark with summer signing Kane Swerner finishing neatly.
The strike gave Neasden renewed hope and they started the second half the brighter team Bruno Frankel tested Hendon keeper Nicky Rosenthal from distance while diminutive winger Danny Cohen asked questions of the Hendon backline.
The defining moment came on 65 minutes. The impressive Kon started and finished the move which surely could be contender for goal of the season. From well inside his own half, Kon dribbled through past the Neasden defence before switching play to Smulovitch. He crossed to the far post for Konn to head past Cowan. It was a goal straight out of the training ground.
There was no was back for Neasden now and David Atkins tried his luck from range only to be denied by great save from Cowan.
The hosts finished strongly but Hendon ran out worth winners.
Hendon player-manager Martin Smulovitch said: "We defended well and were excellent going forward. Our composure and togetherness got us through and we definitely deserved it on the balance of the 90 minutes."
Acting Neasden boss Daniel Hodes said: "They deserved it on the day. We started off slowly and couldn't force our way back. All credit to them"
