Jewish and Muslim students collaborated to promote volunteering work at the University of East London.
Elie Gottlieb, a second year psychology student, set up a multi-coloured dome on the university's Docklands campus to encourage others to sign up for interfaith projects with the Coexistence Trust.
Elie, part of the Trust's campus ambassadors scheme, said: "I have welcomed the opportunity to meet and work with students from other faith backgrounds and by volunteering in the community many other students will get the opportunity to make new friendships from different faiths."
Muslim student Amal Ahmed Ali, who studies the same course and is also a campus ambassador said: "Whatever differences we have, we also have much in common. Initiatives like this can help pave the way for more dialogue and understanding."
Among the scheme's social action projects are sessions helping at an Islamic school and a Jewish old age home.
Students are also involved in tree planting and decorating efforts to improve neighbourhoods close to their campuses.
