FC Team went into the top of the Middlesex County League Division One table after hammering title rivals St. Lawrence 5-1.
Both sides went into the game knowing that whatever happened, one team will lose their 100 per cent record.
Missing midfielder Andy Croll, it took FC Team 15 minutes to get into their stride as Mitch Lassman set up Obinna who hit his shot against the frame of the post.
The game was end to end with St. Lawrence playing some good counter-attacking football, trying to switch play to their star No. 9 but Josh Morris at right back was dealing with him very well.
The first half was very much more of a battle than a football match played in the midfield and being contested by Laurence Judah and Kieran Allen Curry.
The first goal was always going to be key and it went to St. Lawrence. A great through ball was met by a great run by their winger who slotted the ball past Mendelsohn.
Team went into the half one nil down for the first time all season.
FC Team manager Mitch Young kept a positive take on it at half time and told the time to press St. Lawrence higher up the pitch, and straight away from kick off the strikers forced them into a mistake. From a corner, Richard Salmon headed in the equaliser.
It became 2-1 five minutes later. This time Obinna forced a defender into an error. The Nigerian striker ran rounded the keeper and slotted home.
Team looked like men on a mission and it soon became 3-1 when Howson beat his man down the left and cut in to score.
St. Lawrence then hit the self-destruct button and the young side - with an average age of 19 -were failing their first test of character. Team made it 4-1 from a great Weyman free kick with Allen Curry glancing in a header. It soon became 5-1 as Mitch Lassman broke the offside trap and rounded the goalkeeper.
Team were led by Captain Paul Kent brilliantly throughout and moved clear at the top keeping their perfect record intact.
FC Team manager Mitch Young said: “This was a superb game of football with two excellent sides on show. I was really impressed with St. Lawrence but more impressed with my team who for the first time all season went into the second half a goal down.
“We showed tremendous team spirit and character to come back and win 5-1 against a team like St. Lawrence was truly unbelievable. This is the character of champions and that is what we want this season.
“We are now top and have 100 per cent record and we will fight in every game to stay there. I am proud of all my players today as I thought they all were unbelievable a great team performance with five different scorers.
