Stalwart Zionist Leslie Silver has received a certificate for 60 years’ support of Israel. Unable to attend a recent UJIA fundraiser when a presentation ceremony was due to be held, the former Leeds United chairman was presented with the award at his Alwoodley home. Howard Foreman, UJIA North East regional director, said: “Mr Silver has done incredible work for Israel.” Born in London in 1925, Mr Silver moved to Leeds in 1940.
