Team GB’s 18-man open football squad competing in the blue ribband event at the Maccabiah Games Chai has been finalised.
Team manager Jonathan Kestenbaum said: “Ben Winston (assistant-manager) and I are delighted with the blend of the squad. There is a very pleasing combination of players who have experienced the intensity of the tournament before and players who will be appearing for the first time.
“The spirit in the squad throughout the build-up has been very good with a huge sense of excitement. However, the players are under no illusions – their opponents will have players with Champions League and international experience.
“At the last Games in 2005, three members of the USA squad went on to represent USA at the 2006 World Cup. We know how challenging this tournament will be and we will do everything necessary to prepare for the challenge.”
