Actor and comedian Paul Kaye will be judging the comedians, musicians, singers and a magician who have made the final of a Wizo-organised talent competition. Showbiz agent Jonathan Shalit will also be on the panel for the “Who’s Got Talent?” showpiece in North-West London on March 8.
The competition is a follow-up to last year’s “Comedy Factor” event and is being run by Wizo’s younger division, Aviv.
“Jews have always been big in showbusiness so it was no surprise seeing so many turning up wanting to audition,” reported Wizo executive director Alison Rosen.
Finalists include pianist Gavin Littaur, a postal historian who lists “writing letters to the Daily Telegraph” among his hobbies. Comedienne Annabel Gaba has worked as a farmer and intends to apply for Big Brother in 2010. Acting student Zara Kadir has appeared on ITV children’s show The Worst Witch. Other contenders are comedian Jon Kudlick, a finalist in the Hackney Empire new act competition, singer Sandra Lee, magician Toby Rinkoff and a children’s rock band, Black Widows.
Proceeds from the event will support Wizo’s Beit Sherman Family Centre in Beersheba, helping “teenage girls at risk”.
