Laura Saperstein will make her long-awaited return to a UK ring in March.
Having spent the past nine months training and fighting in Thailand, Saperstein has recently opened her own design business in boxingwear.
She will be back in the ring at the York Hall in Bethnal Green on March 22, where she will fight against a yet-to-be-named opponent, having recently signed up with Miranda Carter, England’s only female boxing promoter.
The former lawyer went to the Far East last year following an acrimonious split with her promoter Frank Maloney, but she is happy to be back. “It’s a relief,” she said. “I’ve been working so hard with the training and the business on the side, it’s usually seven days a week.”
Saperstein won three fights in Thailand, stretching her unbeaten professional record to six.
Her latest bout takes place on a Sunday and she said: “I hope to get more support from the Jewish community. I’m looking forward to showing off my new style which is trying to be more relaxed in fights.
“When I started it was all about being aggressive, but that didn’t look good and as a result the fight looked ugly. I now have a more stylish approach.”
