Every season, JC Sports Editor Danny Caro challenges league chairman David Wolff regarding the winners of each division. The good news is that neither has predicted the same side, so the pressure is off for now ...
I've gone for Brady Maccabi A in the Premier given who they have signed over the summer. The National Cup holders improved dramatically over the second half of last season, culminating in their cup final success at Boundary Park, and with Lee Cash, Ben Goldberg and Michael Kenley bolstering their ranks, they are the team to beat for me this time around. I expect Faithfold, Hendon and Redbridge Jewish Care to be their nearest rivals.
Winning has become a habit for Brady Maccabi B. They are a well-oiled machine and I'm sure Josh Dagul has a big signing or two up his sleeve to replace talisman James Joseph. Reiss Mogilner has had two outstanding season and will be the one to watch in Division One. Add to that Josh Newman, Dan Hildebrand, Dan Harrod, Nathan Harrod and Sam Singer, and they will take some beating. I expect Southgate Harmen and Shirley Park to push them close, with Chigwell Athletic the dark horses.
Division Two looks wide open to me. I've gone with FC Team C as I believe they have unfinished business given how things panned out in Division Three last season. No doubt, Oakwood B will push them close, as will Blizzard Storm given their success in the transfer market over the summer.
Division Three is also hard to call. The addition of Dan Gordon will give Faithfold C even more of a cutting edge. If Ben Simons and he help themselves to 20 goals apiece, it will take a good team to stop them. Admittedly they will need to tighten up at the back, but they have an excellent keeper in Justin Simons, with Josh Barnett earning rave reviews in front of him.
